| June 2, 2003 About 1 1/2 years ago I set out on the internet to find a canary that would not only sign but would also be a pleasure to look at. I loved the way the Red Factors appeared but many sites I visited warned if you want a singer you have the following choices - American Singer, Spanish Timbrado, Waterslager or Roller - colorbreeds were not included as singer candidates. One of my numerous searches led me to Marvin Walton's "The Canary's Nest." He certainly had the color I wanted but the song? I emailed him with questions about singing, etc. and he assured me that a male red factor would sing (although not as freely as, for example, an American Singer). In January of this year I sent him a check for the bird and then settled in for a long winter's wait, since I live in Buffalo, NY and shipping was out of the question until spring. Marvin contacted me in April saying he had chosen a male of 2003 for me and he began to set up flight plans for May. Domingo (my canary) arrived in beautiful condition in early May and proceeded to settle in very well. Within a week, despite moulting, he began singing his baby songs and has not stopped since. I have owned male canaries in the past and most of them were skittish and preferred to sing without a human audience --not Domingo -- he is a real showoff and appreciates his people being around. I give Marvin Walton my highest recommendation as a provider of wonderful, healthy, happy birds. He is extremely knowledgeable, helpful and trustworthy. If you are looking for "that special canary" contact Marvin! Susan McCarthy |
