Marvin:

Thanks a million for all your quick and wonderful help with getting my new canaries. As a first time bird-owner (and experienced Netizen), I  immediately began scouring Internet sites for well-written reading on bird care and discovered The Canary's Nest. I didn't expect to become a  patron of the site then. But after I had to return my first birds, TCN  and you came to mind immediately when I decided to find a reputable breeder for the novice owner. After talking with you on the phone, I  was reassured that yes, canaries were for me; that I could be a  good, responsible owner who would love and care for someone's hard and careful work; and that I could have a good relationship with someone who was knowledgeable (there's a dearth of canary owners and breeders in
my area, it seems).

So we were excited to wait for the safe arrival of the trio (now named Athos (the frosted Red Factor), Porthos (the green Roller), and Aramis, the cinnamon American Singer) and their supporting diet and supplements. The box of nutrition came first in good order, and then the Musketeers arrived just today safely and in great health. That was the first striking thing: once they were placed into the flight cage and got over skittishness, their eyes were bright, their feathers tight, and they immediately began bouncing around the place as if it were their own. They found water, food, perches, and baths within 25 minutes, and didn't seem too worried that someone was watching nearby.

They had their own interactions to sort out amongst themselves, and that's what they did! They've gone to sleep pretty promptly at sunset, rather tuckered out, I'm sure, from their events.

And during the day, the trio found time to peep, chirp, ring and warble at each other a bit. And it's day one.

Again, thanks for the beautiful, beautiful canaries, and the support and expertise that made me comfortable (nay, excited!) about my decision.

Talk to you soon,
